a8las is a set of daily geography games at a8las.com. This page explains what information the site uses and why. The short version: you can play without an account, your results stay in your own browser unless you choose to sign in, and we never sell your information.

Playing without an account

Your puzzle results, streaks and settings are saved in your browser's local storage on your device. They are not sent to us. Clearing your browser data, or using Erase everything on the Profile page, removes them.

If you sign in

Signing in is optional. It lets you keep your results on more than one device. When you sign in with Google or with an email link, we receive your email address, and with Google also your name and profile picture. We store your email address and your saved puzzle results so we can sync them between your devices. We don't use this information for anything else.

Accounts and synced results are stored by Supabase, the database service a8las uses. Google handles Google sign-in under its own privacy policy.

Advertising

a8las may show ads from Google AdSense to players without a subscription. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalized ads at Google Ad Settings, and learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Where the law requires it, you'll be asked for consent before personalized ads are shown.

Other services the site loads

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when your browser downloads them. Our web host, Bluehost, keeps standard server logs such as IP addresses and the pages requested. Links to Wikipedia and other sites take you to services with their own privacy policies.

What we don't do

We don't sell your personal information. We don't run our own analytics or tracking scripts.

Children

a8las is a general-audience game and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

Your choices

You can sign out at any time from the Profile page. To delete your account and its synced results, email us from the address you signed in with and we'll delete them. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights over your information, such as access or correction; contact us to use them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
